A miles de kilómetros al Sur de Buenos Aires, tres personajesviajanpor las solitarias rutas de la Patagonia austral. Don Justo,dueñoretirado de un almacén que ahora maneja su hijo, se ha escapado delatutela de éste para buscar a su perro que ha desaparecido y alquealguien dice haber visto en San Julián. A medida que avanzaalencuentro con su perro, descubrimos, que más allá de encontraralanimal, lo importante para él es cerrar ciertos capítulosaúnpendientes en su vida y poder enfrentarse en paz a la muerte.Roberto, viajante de comercio, recorre la misma rutaen su viejo auto,llevando un incómodo cargamento: una torta de cremaencargadaespecialmente para el cumpleaños del hijo de una mujer joven,viudareciente de uno de sus clientes en la zona. El plan deRoberto,siguiendo técnicas que aprendió en los libros de venta, esllegar a lacasa de la viuda, impresionarla favorablemente, y asegurarseun éxitorotundo cuando le confiese sus intenciones de formar con ellaunapareja estable.
Ese mismo día y por la misma ruta viaja María Flores con supequeñahija. Lo hace en un trasporte público. Es una mujer muy humilde,que seha enterado que ha resultado ganadora en el sorteo de un programadeTV, cuyo premio mayor es una multiprocesadora . Aunque no sabe biendequé se trata y vive de prestado sin tener dinero ni para comer,Maríadecide emprender el viaje hacia el lejano y fascinante mundo delatelevisión.
Cada uno viaja por su cuenta pero como sucede en las desérticasrutaspatagónicas, sus historias y sus ilusiones se entrecruzan enlosescasos paradores.
